Conflict Diamond Policy
At Claddagh Store, we are committed to sourcing all diamonds, precious metals and jewellery materials responsibly. We work only with trusted suppliers who comply with internationally recognised standards to ensure every piece of jewellery we offer is ethically sourced, conflict free and responsibly produced.
Committed to Responsible Sourcing
Claddagh Store fully supports international efforts to eliminate the trade in conflict diamonds and remains committed to maintaining a transparent, ethical and responsible supply chain.
We require all suppliers to comply with the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme together with all relevant United Nations resolutions governing the trade of rough diamonds. Every supplier must guarantee that the diamonds supplied to Claddagh Store originate only from legitimate sources and are never used to finance conflict.
Our commitment extends beyond diamonds. We expect every supplier to demonstrate integrity, transparency and responsible sourcing throughout the production of all jewellery, gemstones, precious metals and related materials supplied to Claddagh Store.
Our Conflict Diamond Policy
The following principles form the foundation of our supplier requirements and ethical sourcing standards.
Conflict-Free Diamonds
For diamonds mined on or after 1 January 2003, suppliers guarantee that every diamond supplied to Claddagh Store has been purchased from legitimate sources that are not involved in funding conflict and fully comply with applicable United Nations resolutions.
Diamonds Mined Before 2003
For diamonds mined before 1 January 2003, suppliers confirm they are not knowingly selling conflict diamonds and undertake all reasonable measures to help prevent conflict diamonds entering the legitimate jewellery trade.
Supplier Guarantees
Every supplier must provide written guarantees confirming that all diamonds supplied to Claddagh Store are conflict free, based on their own knowledge and the written warranties received from their own suppliers.
Supplier Warranty Statement
For all products fabricated from rough diamonds mined on or after 1 January 2003, every supplier is required to provide a written warranty confirming that the diamonds have been purchased from legitimate sources and comply with all applicable United Nations resolutions.
“The diamonds herein invoiced have been purchased from legitimate sources not involved in funding conflict and in compliance with United Nations Resolutions. The undersigned hereby guarantees that these diamonds are conflict free, based on personal knowledge and/or written guarantees provided by the supplier of these diamonds.”
Our Supplier Standards
Claddagh Store requires all suppliers to maintain the highest ethical standards throughout their sourcing, manufacturing and distribution processes.
Ethical Supply Chain
Suppliers must never sell diamonds, gemstones, precious metals, pearls or any other jewellery products that have funded, or are the result of, illegal, violent, inhumane or terrorist activity. Every product supplied to Claddagh Store must originate from legitimate and lawful sources.
Documentation & Verification
Suppliers must provide proof of warranty whenever requested by Claddagh Store and retain warranty documentation relating to their diamond purchases and diamond jewellery for a minimum period of five years.
Ethical Labour Practices
Suppliers must ensure that none of the products supplied to Claddagh Store have been mined, processed or manufactured using child labour, forced labour, oppressive labour practices or unlawful working conditions.
Working With Trusted Suppliers
We work only with suppliers who share our commitment to ethical sourcing, transparency and responsible business practices. We reserve the right to request supporting documentation and warranties at any time to verify continued compliance with our sourcing standards.
These measures help protect the integrity of our supply chain and provide our customers with confidence when purchasing from Claddagh Store.
Beyond Conflict-Free Diamonds
Our commitment extends beyond diamonds alone. We expect every supplier to demonstrate responsible sourcing practices across all gemstones, precious metals, pearls and jewellery materials while respecting human rights, environmental responsibility and internationally recognised ethical standards.
Integrity, authenticity and responsible craftsmanship remain at the heart of everything we do.
